International Dentist Disclaimer:
This course has been expanded to allow International dentists all over the globe to partake. Whilst the examples discussed are originally from Australia, the concepts, learnings and practical applications are entirely universal and are invaluable to any dental associate looking to grow and truly succeed in their dental career.
If you are a dentist outside Australia and New Zealand, please select the international option during the exercises if available.
Currency
Throughout the courses the dollar sign is used when discussing and entering monetary values. If your currency isn’t in dollars, please simply disregard/ignore the dollar sign and continue to enter your currency as normal.
Taxation
Taxation is a very complicated matter, and it differs considerably between countries, states and the legal structures under which dentists are operating (such as an individual, self employed or company).
When discussing income, tax is however, a key consideration that we cannot ignore. In our ‘Dentist by Design’ and ‘Improving Income’ courses, Individual Tax rates for Australia and new Zealand have been pre-populated in our models. For our international clients, a customisable tax table has been developed that allows you to enter the personal income tiers and corresponding taxable amounts in your region to facilitate your learning.
Whilst the concepts presented are very valuable , they are general in nature and in no way represent financial advice. When making any financial decisions, it is important to consult a registered tax professional in your country or region who can take into account your individual circumstances.

Dental Nomenclature/ Terminology
In Australia our dental treatments have associated ‘item numbers’ from the ‘Australian Schedule of Dental services’. For example
ITEM 012 is an Oral Exam – periodic.
If your country uses a numbering system/schedule this will of course differ, however the respective descriptions of these dental treatments will be relatively similar enabling our international dentists to understand the concepts presented and achieve the necessary learnings from our courses.
Please appreciate there may also be differences between the way in which treatments are performed and renumerated in our examples compared to your particular country or region. For example non-surgical periodontal treatment may be performed on a quadrant basis, on a per tooth basis or have both options available to dentists.
To avoid confusion, certain terms and abbreviations found in the course are clarified below:
The tooth numbers referenced by Dr Jamie in examples throughout the courses use the FDI World Dental Federation notation. Whilst most of the world employs this system, dentists from the United States who use the Universal Numbering System or “American System”, or from the UK who use the Palmer notation may be unfamiliar with these.
